Wait, guys...what if you DID birth a T-rex?!?

I will really, really, really miss this place.

Only a week and a half left, and then I come home!  Huzzah!  I am ready to not take classes anymore, although I must say I will miss some aspects.  Things are winding down, and having the geology majors gone already makes this place feel less and less like home.

From Sky the Cat to coconut bras, the 100-ft slip 'n' slide to the times of awe in God's Creation, from lightning storm watching from the roof to big-horned sheep at breakfast, from skateboarding to movies in the lab, from yoga to cliff jumping, I will genuinely miss the Science Station.  Yes, I will miss science camp.  I am that huge of a geek.

I have to write a project.  Sick.

- Seen It All Before

Can I participate, even though I'm not of your ethnicity?

Actual line a kid in my class gave me while hiking up a mountain this week.  I nearly wet myself.

My thought pattern has gotten deeper over the past few weeks...I feel very introspective here and I'm frustrated by situations that are unclear to me.  Only 3 1/2 weeks left here in this magical place...I know I'll miss it desperately.  I wonder how life will be different with these people when we get back to Wheaton...

I got a plane ticket this week to go home for my cousin's wedding this fall.  Just in case anyone who reads this is interested, I'm looking for a cello, viola, and violin player to complete a quartet for the event.  Apparently it's a paid position, so let me know if you're interested.

There's almost too much to write down here.  I hope my grandma's been keeping the letters I'm sending to her...they're a great description of what I've done here each week.

Peace and blessings to you wherever you are and whatever your circumstances.  No matter what is going on, God loves you, and that is enough.

New Picture, slight scandel

That's what the science station people looked at for most of last week.  The top of my thigh was the worst, there was some near my knee, too.  Enjoy.

Just in case you were wondering...

Diane + long-board skateboarding = ridiculous road rash all down the left side of my body. Pictures available upon request.

Tell Me Something Good

Let's be honest: I love this place.  It's such beautiful country, I am overwhelmed at times with the glory I see in Creation.  It's funny, one of the guys in the van home from the Bluegrass Festival last night was saying that so many people thank God for the opportunity to be here but don't really appreciate it.  I realized that I had lost appreciation when the novelty wore off (about day 3 I was here) but seeing that I have an incredible opportunity to be in Creation: touching it, enjoying it, getting rashes from it, is all an amazing blessing. I love the community of people here: they are encouraging and hilarious and just a blast to be with.  It'll be weird to say goodbye at the end of the summer and see how the relationships pan out on Wheaton's campus this fall.
I started plant taxonomy class on Monday...it's not like ornithology. There's 3x as many people and it's not as organized.  Let's be honest, it frustrates me a lot.  But I am learning and growing, even if it's mostly on my own.  I will be so excited to get home, though, and have a great, hot, long, shower without fear of spiders the size of my palm (literally) crawling up the wall.  I'm tan, I'm blonder, and my body's toning up (we started doing yoga this morning, it was AH-mazing!)
I miss all my Kansas/not-here-Wheaton-people so much. Hope to hear from youg guys soon!!!
